Foodbank at St Joseph the Worker

On Monday we met a trustee of the Foodbank called Veronica. She explained to us about how the foodbank works. She said that people brought a voucher to the Foodbank and from a list of food they are able to choose food to take home.

All people who work at the foodbank do not get paid to work there. The foodbank for donations is open on a Monday and people who wish to use the foodbank with their voucher can go on a Tuesday. People can get a voucher from school, their doctor, health vistor and Early help.

All the food is donated from local people and shops. The fresh food is donated by Tesco which Veronica collects on Monday night.

All food is dated and they cannot give things to people that is under 3 months old.

They also have a grab table which people can choose food from without a voucher.

The foodbank is very confidential and nothing is shared with other people.

If any family needs food on a day the foodbank is not open they can phone the foodbank on 07763 645 964 and emergency packages are available for delivery.

You can find out about the foodbank on their website. https://irlamcadishead.foodbank.org.uk/contact-us/

They were very grateful for all the donations our families made for Family fast day and they would like to say a big Thank you.
