PE at St. Joseph the Worker
Physical activity not only improves health, reduces stress and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others. Therefore both teachers and children should be aware of its importance.
At St Joseph’s our aim is that each class will receive 2 hours of physical activity per week. At the moment classes are timetabled to have at least one Physical Education session per week. The sessions will contain elements required by the National Curriculum of:
Key Stage 1: Games, Dance and Gymnastics
Key Stage 2: Games, Dance, Gymnastics, Athletics, Outdoor Education and Swimming.
We took part in a sports lunchtime challenge with Fit for Sport, we welcomed Dean Horridge the CEO and Steph and Dave who helped us all get active! All the children in KS2 carried out team relays and individual exercises against the clock. It was great fun!
