Shove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

Date: 1st Mar 2017 @ 10:53am

This week we have been celebrating Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday in class. The children have learnt all about Shrove Tuesday and understand that this is a day we say sorry for the things we have done wrong. We eat pancakes to use up all the rich food in our cupbaords before Lent begins. We ate pancakes in class and shared these with our RE buddies in year 5. We explained why Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday are important to us and shared our Lenten promises. Then we gave our buddies a plate each ready to enjoy a delicious pancake!

On returning to class, we took part in a class worship session to practise receivng our ashes. In turn, we put our hands together ad approached Miss Woolloff at the altar. We said out Lenten promise to ourselves whilst Miss Woolloff drew a cross on our heads. After, we sent some time listenin to quite music relfecting on how we will stick to our promise.
