School Mission Statement Day!

Class: Year 3 Year: 2016 - 2017

Today, in Year 3, we celebrated our school mission statement day!
We had the best time and it all started with a wonderful assembly in the hall with the entire school gathered together.
Next we had a wonderful visit from Chris, Sam and Jade. This was particularly special because Jade is a medical detection dog who helps Chris cope with his diabetes. We learnt so much during their talk and were amazed at how well Jade could detect and alert Chris when his blood sugar was either too high or too low. It was the highlight of our day and we now have many future medical detection dog trainers in our class! Chris, Sam and Jade really are an inspiration!
We also had an interesting visit from Katie and Jack, head boy and girl from St Patricks RC High School, they talked to Year 3 about all the responsibilities they have within their role and told the children they'd like to see a head boy or girl from our class.
Next, we had a visit from a special magpie lady who taught us that what makes us shiny is our hearts. She helped us to discover the incredible talents and gifts God has given us, but also to share what we think our friends talents are!
After this, we learnt all about Malala. We discussed how we are so lucky to have the option to go to school and talked about how inspirational she was to stand up for what she believed in no matter the consequences.
Finally, we finished the day with a talent show. We wanted to show everyone that our lights really do shine in year 3! We wanted to really run with what Miss Ridyard told us that, we too can be inspirations to those around us. There was a range of talents on show from singing, song writing, piano composing, drawing, football, basketball, dancing, boxing, joke telling and even magic tricks.
We left school with wonderful medical detection dog packs, a packet of seeds to watch grow, a cake from Mrs Green and a biscuit from Miss Gardner.

Together as God's children we will love, learn, grow, inspire. Let your light shine!
