Closure of St Joseph's Church - Irlam

Last week St Joseph’s Church Irlam received a copy of Bishop Arnold’s letter which outlined the proposals for consultation on the re-structuring of Parishes within the Diocese of Salford.

 

Parishioners are all very concerned about the suggested closure of the St Joseph the Worker Church. They recognise that there is a need for change and that the likelihood of a merger with St Teresa’s is inevitable. The main concern is keeping open the Church so that  Parishioners can continue to worship and attend Mass within their own Parish Community.

 

The loss of our Church would have a significant effect upon the school who use it on a weekly basis and it is an integral part of the Children’s Catholic education. The school have written to all parents who are supporting the objection to the closure.

 

Parishioners are urging as many people as possible to respond the consultation to show the Diocese we are serious in their desire to keep St Joseph’s Church open.
